Differences to b 0.1.0.4: new weapons like the rifles Famas and Galil; new items like Tactical Shield; new maptypes: Domination and Capture The Flag; completely new game type: Construction.
By Kiffer-Opa 5 years agoCS2D makes progress ... Version b 0.1.0.8 is out now and many things has been added since b 0.1.0.4. I will show you the most important changes:
- New map types: --- Capture The Flag --- Domination
- Server can select one of four game modes now: --- Standard --- Deathmatch --- Team Deathmatch --- Contruction
- Triggers
- new weapons like the rifle Famas
- new items like Tactical Shield
Now to the detailed description of the features: Capture The Flag is like CTF in all other shooters, your team has a flag, your enemy team has a flag. You have to steal the enemy flag and you have to defend your and bring it to your own flag to win a round. After a capture, the round is restarted. Maybe this will be changed, but I am not sure. Domination in CS2D is a bit different to Domination in Unreal Tournament. There is a given number of important points on the map and your team has to dominate all of them (simply by runnung over them) to win a round. And some points need more than one player (up to 3) to dominate it.
The Standard game mode is nothing new—it’s a CS-like gameplay; all players respawn at the beginning of the round; this gamemode is especially for the good old CS scenarios: bomb defuse, hostage rescue, assassination. It’s also for round based Team Deathmatches (like in old CS2D).
In Deathmatch (texting shorthand: DM) all other players are enemies and you have to kill as many as possible. The developer didn’t add a frag/time(?) limit yet. You can respawn at any time you want after your death.
Team Deathmatch (texting shorthand: Team DM) works like deathmatch maps in the Standard mode, a deathmatch with two teams. Respawn works like in Deathmatch mode. The server should select this game mode for CTF or Domination maps.
Construction is a bit more complex. First you have to know this is based on Team Deathmatch. In this game mode all players get a new item: a wrench. With this wrench you can build buildings for defense or whatever you want. To do this, you need money. You can build following buildings: - Barricade, Wall I, Wall II and Wall III just stay around and can block an important way or whatever. The Barricade is weak, and the Wall III is a very strong wall - Barbed Wire hurts any player who walks over it 20 HP - A turret shoots at every enemy automatically - Gate Field hurts every enemy who walks over it - A Dispenser gives you ammo, cash and heals you if it was build by someone of your own team. You can destroy all buildings by shooting at them, expect Gate Field and Barbed Wire which can be destroyed if too many players were hurted. Where does the Construction mode make sense? I’ll tell you: In my opinion, Construction does fits perfectly fit to CTF if the map has a Construction-mode-friendly layout. In fact, Construction makes completely new defense strategies for Capture The Flag. If you still don’t like the idea—no problem! Just visit a server without Construction mode activated or make your own.
CS2D has also a bunch of new weapons and items. I will list them here and give a short info: Galil (can be bought by Ts) and Famas (can be bought by CTs) are two new rifles which are a bit cheaper and weaker than the AK-47. Tactical Shield (can be bought by CTs) will block every bullet. On the downside it is too big to carry a primary weapon like the M4A1. RPG Launcher, Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launcher (all unbuyable) fire more or less deadly explosives to blast your enemy. Gas Grenade (unbuyable) releases really dangerous toxic gas which can kill everyone in short time if they don’t run out of the gas cloud. Molotov Cocktail (unbuyable) will explode on the ground or at walls and has a bit bigger than a HE, I think. After detonation it will burn for some seconds. Machete (unbuyable) is like a knife, but it usually kills with one slash. Cash can low lie on ground and collected. You can’t drop cash. Medikits and Bandages (both unbuyable) will give you health back when you collect them.
Now to the Triggers. Triggers can trigger almost everything. They can turn the light on or off, they can open doors, they can turn on deadly laser beams and more. The most triggers can be used py pressing the “use” key (usually E) in front of a trigger. In CS2D, the most triggers look like small rectangles which are installed at the walls.
Other improvements: You can install a silencer on some of your weapons. Some other weapons can have a burst-mode. If its activated, your gun will fire up to three bullets at once to different directions. Activate silencer/burst-mode with your right mouse key (called secondary fire). The knife also has secondary fire now which is a more powerful slash than thie primary one.
That were many new improvements, I think. Have fun! =) download CS2D b 0.1.0.8 here
